Rediscovering the dandelion and sow

The Taraxacum officinale is more commonly known as Dandelion and while walking on the sidewalk, there is no case in this small plant that grows everywhere with its yellow flowers that turn into the typical "head" consisting of many threads that link each a fluffy seed.
Despite the little attention which is treated with this plant was known and used since ancient times as a medicinal plant.
Contrary to how it is believed, the whole plant is curative and has no poison, only the latex present in the stems can cause allergies, but the plant parts used are the tender leaves and roots.
I propose ideas to discover the benefits and flavor of a dandelion.

cultivated or COLLECT?
You can have the dandelion in two ways: go to fields or years (free of waste, fertilizers, pesticides and chemicals), or grown in the vegetable garden or balcony.
If you opt for the collection in the open countryside, this operation must be performed in a clean, away from the roadside and in non-contaminated. The leaves should be collected before the flowers bloom, sampling the most tender and after washing, are eaten fresh or boiled. The roots are harvested in spring or autumn, are dried and can be used to make teas. You must always respect the time of balsamic species and the collection must be done without damaging the nature!

Alternatively it can be grown.
seems trivial, but besides being pleasant to do so, we ensure a harvest organic and always ready. The seeds are

needed vessels with a diameter greater than 10 cm to be filled with a mixture of soil and sand with a bottom of pebbles. They put 2 or 3 seeds per pot and she covers them with a pinch of soil, it should all be kept moist. Or you can sow in the field, in well-drained soils, cease as soon as the frosts. It is not a demanding plant. After about 10 days they begin to sprout tiny leaves cotiledonali.
In our climate the Sardinians can be sown from February to May to June depending on the season, the harvest takes place from April onwards.
Once grown, we can see the leaves and eat as a salad, raw or cooked, this custom originated in France where it is combined with special ingredients to make delicious dishes. But even in Sardinia has always been known as edible. The fresh salad Dandelion helps the body with the production of bile juices, acts on the liver and plays a purifying, makes a number of vitamins and minerals.
Then the roots can also be collected, dried and used in teas to help cleanse the body and eliminate excess fluids.

a useful medicinal plant, to cultivate, enhance and enjoy!
