Catalan is certainly not the most sophisticated and talented pen in which I, in my long career as a reader, I've ever come across, but it is certainly one of the most hypnotic.
Zafón is able to lead the reader into his world with incredible magical abilities. Only once one has left behind also the last page of the book and it has finally regained his senses and reasoning, inconsistencies emerge strongly and the ingenuity of the story just read. Meanwhile, for days or weeks, you will be pleasantly succumbed to the author's captivating charm.
A spell that has the effect of a strong English red wine: it makes you lightheaded, makes you happy and makes you throw to the winds the critical sense.
Carlos Ruiz Zafón has the gift of my story and it's all envy.
